Telehealth Appointments
Telehealth appointments offer a convenient way to consult with Associate Professor Len Kliman. This approach allows patients to connect via phone, making it particularly helpful for those in rural or interstate areas or with mobility challenges.
What Is Telehealth?
Telehealth uses digital communication technologies to provide healthcare services remotely, allowing consultations to take place from the convenience of a patient’s home.
Advantages of Telehealth
- Convenient access to Associate Professor Kliman from home for those outside Melbourne
- Ideal for follow-up consultations or non-urgent concerns
Limitations of Telehealth
- Some conditions require physical examinations that cannot be conducted virtually.
- Telehealth may lack the personal connection of an in-person visit.
Booking a Telehealth Appointment
Please note that Telehealth isn’t suitable for all conditions, as some require in-person assessments. To book a Telehealth appointment, email the practice manager at information@drlenkliman.com.au. She will determine whether Telehealth is appropriate for your specific condition.
If eligible, you’ll receive a confirmation letter, a patient registration form, and potentially a questionnaire based on your condition. We also request that your GP referral and completed paperwork be emailed back at least one week prior to your appointment.
You’ll receive an SMS reminder a week before your appointment. Please confirm or reschedule as needed; a 48-hour notice is required for cancellations to avoid a late fee. A fee estimate will be provided upon booking, and a GP referral is necessary to claim any Medicare benefits for the consultation.
Who Can Use Telehealth Appointments?
- Patients located within Australia
- Women seeking consultation for specific gynaecological conditions who do not live in Melbourne
Note: Telehealth may not be suitable for all conditions. Eligibility will be assessed via email with the practice manager.
Five Medical Reasons Why Telehealth May Not Be Suitable
- Physical examination required: Some conditions, such as pelvic pain, suspected masses, and vulval or vaginal skin disorders, require an in-person exam.
- Emergencies: Conditions like heavy bleeding or severe pelvic pain may need immediate, in-person attention.
- Ultrasounds: Ultrasounds and certain imaging tests require in-person visits for accuracy.
- Complex medical history: Patients with intricate medical histories may need hands-on evaluation.
- Complex gynaecological history: Those with complex gynaecological or reproductive health backgrounds may benefit from a more thorough in-person evaluation.
Important Considerations
- Physical exams cannot be performed via Telehealth, so some conditions will require in-person visits.
- Telehealth is only available to patients within Australia.
- Medical advice is given exclusively during consultations for legal and safety reasons; no pre-consultation advice will be provided online.
- Telehealth appointments are structured similarly to in-person visits, simply conducted remotely.
Pre-Consultation Preparation
- Patients will receive a confirmation letter and patient registration form, which may request medical history and symptom details.
- Associate Professor Kliman will begin the consultation by reviewing your medical history and addressing any specific concerns.
- He may provide guidance for self-assessment if applicable and recommend follow-up tests or imaging if necessary, to be completed in person.
Diagnosis and Treatment
Following the consultation, Associate Professor Kliman will discuss potential diagnoses and treatment options. A summary letter of the consultation will be sent to you and a copy to your GP. Follow-up appointments can be scheduled as needed.
Privacy and Security
Telehealth consultations comply with privacy regulations, ensuring that all patient information remains confidential.
